This programme was developed to establish shoe artisanry as a recognised discipline within formal educational pedagogy — not as a lesser cousin to fine art or industrial design, but as a practice-based field demanding equal rigour, vision, and intellectual engagement.

Developed by Dodi Mohammed, whose journey in the fashion industry began with Professor Jimmy Choo and spans over twenty-five years, currently serving as his publicist in Malaysia, the course integrates three pillars:

Artisanry — Technical mastery of traditional and contemporary shoemaking methods, from pattern-making to hand-lasting and cemented sole construction.

Entrepreneurship — The skills to build and sustain an independent label: client relations, pricing, branding, and business development.

Creative Identity Formation — The process of discovering and refining one's singular voice as a designer-artisan.

Our graduates do not enter employment. They enter practice. Each begins with made-to-order work, offering clients the ability to select materials, colours, and finishes according to their preference. Some will evolve toward ready-to-wear collections in time. All will own their creative identity.

 

This is artisanry as pedagogy. This is design as independent practice.
